Welcome to Overheard.
As I mentioned yesterday, I wondered "What if you could record that magic conversation that happens with a couple of friends after a couple of drinks? I love learning about other people's worlds and Overheard is about bringing passionate people into one space."
Here is the first episode featuring literary stars Stacey May Fowles (Fear of Fighting), Steven W Beattie of Quill and Quire, and Julie Wilson of Seen Reading and Book Madam. In this episode, we cover the size of the Canadian literary community, how technology will impact books, favourite short story writers, and Seth Godin v. the publishing industry. Future episodes will look at cycling, geek culture, and many more topics.
This is still in beta-mode so feel free to pass on feedback and any suggestions for future guests. If you're on Twitter, I'm there as well as @OHpodcast. Here's to a year of great conversation, sit back, and enjoy! :)
Overheard Episode 1 feat. Stacey May Fowles, Julie Wilson, and Steven W Beattie.
Next month on October 1st, come back for an Overheard podcast on cycling in the city, a topic that has divided municipal candidates, and Toronto gets set to welcome bike-sharing program Bixi in November.
Great conversation!
Re: books piracy. It is happening. I'm not sure that the mp3/concert ticket/concert t-shirt vs author only has the book to cull cash from is correct.
Piracy is happening mostly with European editions, tho, in my own experience/research.
Awesome, passionate convo, tho.
Great job.
